4.2 Prevalence

Although exact figures are not available PVD is probably one of the most frequently occurring types of dyspareunia. The prevalence of dyspareunia in general varies between 3-46% and varies strongly between Western European countries (low) and the USA (high). It also varies per setting i.c. 3-18% in the general population, 3-46 in the GP population, and 10-20% in the polyclinic gynecology population.
