z.3.x.3 Positive effects
The PSSOM approach is especially relevant for patients suffering from chronic diseases and or psychosocial problems. Often a background of traumatic experiences plays a role or iatrogenic effects of medical treatment. These patients need more than this ‘one size fits all’-care.
How?
- You realize that the patient not only has a body but also is a body. The patient is not only an object but merely a subject, an agent which sets her own goals and chooses her own way of problem solving within and outside the consultation room
- You promote cocreation of the treatment process, rather than submitting themselves to be treated in a passive way
- You expand the concept of health care, using one or more of its fundamental dimensions.
